In 2011, my husband was embarking on his first Ironman triathlon. Although he was athletic and fit, he had never been a triathlete. (He actually needed to purchase his first pair of running shoes just to train for the event!) His decision to do this was strongly based in his desire to show our children that anything is possible. Besides wanting to give him a token of love and admiration for this superhuman accomplishment, I was hoping to commemorate the essence behind his intention through a piece of jewelry... something masculine and meaningful that he'd actually wear. (He's not a big jewelry guy!) I remember the exact moment I brought this up to Amy. From the second we started talking about it, she totally understood how important this was to me, and her incredibly creative mind went into overdrive. :) She provided me with several ideas and sketches, and was so amazing to work with - accepting my thoughts, and seamlessly, working to bring my idea to fruition. I especially loved that, as detail-oriented as I am, she was the one pointing things out that I didn't even think of! I will never forget giving this necklace to my husband, not long after he crossed the finish line. I am beyond thrilled that Amy was an integral part of such an important and emotional experience in my life. What she does transcends jewelry-making. (P.S. 4 years later, my non-jewelry-wearing husband, wears this necklace, with so much pride, all the time!)
